Oscar Movie Wrap Up Reviews

Each year I try to see all five of the Oscar nominated movies. It was a bit last minute, but I finally saw them all. Here are some quick reviews of those I have not done on this blog yet.

MICHAEL CLAYTON

This movie is about legal maneuvering, lies, underhandedness and making things right in the corporate world. On a whole, I really liked the movie. It was slow in the middle, but packed a good punch at the end. George Clooney is one of my favorites, so having him on-screen most of the time didn't hurt.

ATONEMENT

The movie took place in England in the thirties. The story was about how lives were changed by the misunderstandings of a little girl and the sadness of love and war. bit dragged out, very soap opera like. Had a decent story but was a bit depressing. It wasn't as boring as the previews presented itself to be.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Could be called "There will be a lot of boring parts and a bazaar ending". I understand why Daniel Day Lewis got nominated for best actor, he did a great job. But the movie was very disappointing. It told the tale of a oilman's rise and fall.

Here is the order that I like the movies in:

1. Juno
2. Michael Clayton
3. No Country for Old Men
4. Atonement
5. There Will Be Blood

I enjoy watching the Oscars and I'm looking forward to seeing the performance of the nominated song from the movie ONCE. Hoping for Juno to get the nod, but I think the buzz has pointed to Old County to take it. We'll see tomorrow. And the Oscar goes to......
