5 DAYS TO GO!

Hard to believe the race is only 5 days away.

I was tempted to skip today, but having Hawaii 50 to watch while I was on the treadmill sure encouraged me.

Not too bad today, regular 50 minutes, 3.1 miles.

Started watching When Harry Met Sally, one of my all time favs I haven't seen in a long time.

I wonder why I have a taste for Peeeeecan Pie!

Sister: thanks for your encouragement on this project, so close to achieving what I thought would not be possible.

17 Days to Go

Thanks for the suggestions Kathleen. I'd like to walk your route sometime. Let me know when you are going to be doing it next and maybe I can join you.

50 minutes today. Hard at the end. Not sure when I'm going to find time this weekend to walk, but I hope to.

18 days to go

I did my 50 minutes this morning. Bowled tonight, knees hurt. '

I'd like to walk outside but I'm not sure how to figure out the 3.1 miles, unless I drive 1.55 miles from the house, mark the point in my mind, then walk there and back.

19 Days to go

Another morning 50 minute 3.15 mile treadmill walk.

Last night Kathy and I official signed up for the 5K.

So it's real now, bring it on!

20 Days to go

I took the weekend off, and my knees thanked me.

I walked 50 minutes, which I have capped my time at.

Did 3.14 miles.

Hope to get signed up for the 5K soon to make it an "official" countdown.

23 days to go

I did my 49 minutes, but had technical difficulties (the machine stopped and I didn't get to see the millage, so I'm not sure how far I went, it had to be 3 miles).

I also watched the Stand Up 2 Cancer while I did it, which wasn't too bright of me, since I got choked up at times.

It wasn't too hard to do the walking tonight. Debating if I'm taking tomorrow off, we'll see.

24 days to go

Did the full 49 minutes, pumped up the speed a bit more, did 3.1 miles.

How many exact miles are in a 5K. I know it's around 3, but I was wondering.

Finished "Love Actually". Stayed in England for the Killers DVD Live from The Royal Albert Hall.

over and out

25 Days to go

I bowled tonight, pretty tired, so it's a day off from the treadmill. Back at it tomorrow.

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

26 Days to go

I did my 3 miles on the treadmill, 49 minutes.

I thought this should become easier, but it's not. It's hard

It's been a while

Sister Kathy suggested I blog about the countdown to the FALL COLOR 5k RUN & WALK we will be doing on Sunday October 3rd at Morton Arboretum.

She will be running, I will be walking. I am not a runner, I don't have the body or stamina to do that kind of silly thing. But I'm a good walker. I like to walk fast, so this is perfect for me.

I started "training" on June 1st, walking 30 minutes on the treadmill. I've increased the time little by little. This week I'm up to 49 minutes, getting 3 miles done. I've been averaging about 5 days a week on the treadmill. Only walked outside a couple of times, this summer has been too darn hot to do much outside.

So anyway, Kathy thought it would give me some good motivation to stick with it and "train" harder as the big date approaches. Even though I may only have the one reader (Hi Kathy), it will make me feel obligated to do good, eat right, and walk my way into the next 4 weeks leading up to the "race".

So here it goes: 27 days to go. My ribs hurt me towards the end of the walk. I don't know why. I wanted to give up after 20 minutes, but did not. I'm watching "Love Actually". It helps me to watch something on the TV since walking on the treadmill is very boring.

See you tomorrow.
