Sister Kathy suggested I blog about the countdown to the FALL COLOR 5k RUN & WALK we will be doing on Sunday October 3rd at Morton Arboretum.
She will be running, I will be walking. I am not a runner, I don't have the body or stamina to do that kind of silly thing. But I'm a good walker. I like to walk fast, so this is perfect for me.
I started "training" on June 1st, walking 30 minutes on the treadmill. I've increased the time little by little. This week I'm up to 49 minutes, getting 3 miles done. I've been averaging about 5 days a week on the treadmill. Only walked outside a couple of times, this summer has been too darn hot to do much outside.
So anyway, Kathy thought it would give me some good motivation to stick with it and "train" harder as the big date approaches. Even though I may only have the one reader (Hi Kathy), it will make me feel obligated to do good, eat right, and walk my way into the next 4 weeks leading up to the "race".
So here it goes: 27 days to go. My ribs hurt me towards the end of the walk. I don't know why. I wanted to give up after 20 minutes, but did not. I'm watching "Love Actually". It helps me to watch something on the TV since walking on the treadmill is very boring.
See you tomorrow.
